Problem

My porch was torn off during the hurricane and it was just recently replaced. The base of the old patio was larger than the current one so the indoor/outdoor carpet was not all the way to the edge. It was about 2 inches shy all the way around the edge, and the concrete slab was showing.

Supplies & Tools

  • Vinyl Flooring
  • SikaBond® Construction Adhesive
  • SikaBond® Ultimate Grab

Solution

I decided to rip the carpet up and tile the entire floor. I purchased gray tile on clearance from a local distributor. The tile didn’t match the wall color so rather than painting it, I decided to make it an accent wall. I purchased vinyl flooring and applied it to my patio walls. I would like to credit the Home Depot pro desk in New Smyrna Beach, Florida for giving me the inspiration for this project. They just updated the wall behind their pro desk with laminate flooring and gray weathered wood. It is very creative and looks amazing!

In this project I was advised by the flooring company to only use a flooring adhesive when applying the vinyl flooring to my patio walls, but it failed terribly. The wood pieces kept popping off and sliding down the wall. SikaBond Construction Adhesive was an excellent solution for this project and I had no issues. I was able to complete the entire wall using this adhesive with no movement of the wood and excellent adhesion.

Window & Doors

I used SikaBond Ultimate Grab to install the wood around the windows and doors. The application process was so seamless and easy with the helping hands of my son.
