How to make cement balloon planters using SikaQuick® Patch

A simple DIY project to dress up your home or office space. Check out how we made these cement planters using SikaQuick® Patch.

  • Small Wood Mixer
  • Rubber Spatula
  • Latex/Nitrile Gloves
  • Large Sponge
  • Succulent Plant
  • Small Plastic Dish

Cement Balloon Planter using SikaQuick® Patch

Step 1: Balloon Preperation

Inflate balloon so that it sits in plastic dish without touching the bottom.

Step 2: Mixing SikaQuick® Patch

Roll in direction of the arrows until seal is broken. Shake back and forth until product is fully mixed and there's no clumping. Cut any corner and pour SikaQuick® Patch into cup.

Step 3: Coating Balloon

Using spatchula coat the balloon with first layer of cement. Add additional layers of cement if needed.

Allow to dry for approximately 5 minutes before applying additional coats.

Step 4: Creating Hole

Using plastic straw or coffee mixer create a small hole on the bottom of the balloon. This will allow for water drainage once soil is added.

Step 5: Let Cement Cure

Let cement dry. It should take approxmately 2 hours to fully cure depending on climate conditions. Then you can pop the balloon with a pin and remove any excess or lose pieces of concrete.

Final Step:

Add soil and then your succulents to your mini cement ballon platers!
